Nick Serrano, vice president ofmortgage sales at Greater Nevada Mortgage,was selected as thenational co-chairof the MortgageBankers Association’s educationnetworking group.

After serving as an active member of the board of directors for the$239 million, Colorado Springs,Colo.-based Aventa CreditUnion for over 50 years, MichaelFansler has retired. His relationship with Aventa,formerly ColoradoSprings CreditUnion, started in
1961 when his dadopened an accountfor him when hewas 15. Fanslerjoined the supervisory committeeat the age of 20 in 1966 and waselected to the board in 1968. In
2000, he was named chairman ofthe board and served in that position for 19 years.
The $333 million West Community Credit Union in O’Fallon, Mo.,appointed Romana Gracanin assenior business relations manager. Gracanin hasbeen in the banking industry forover 11 years, including five yearsin business development and business services. Inher new role, shewill be responsible for obtaining and buildingmember business relationshipswhile working closely with retailbranches to cultivate businessdevelopment opportunities. Gracanin will manage business relationships for West Community aswell as the credit union’s Columbia, Mo., division, Tigers Community Credit Union.
Phil Mellinger, vice president ofinformation security for the $3.6
billion, Laurel,Md.-based TowerFederal CreditUnion, joined theCybersecurity Association of Maryland, Inc. (CAMI)Advisory Council.
CAMI is a statewide nonprofit organization that provides education, resources and connectionsto promote cybersecurity andawareness in Maryland. Mellingerbrings over 40 years of information technology and cybersecurityexperience to the advisory council. Prior to joining Tower in 2017as vice president of informationsecurity, he worked for TrustedKnight Corp. Before that, he spent12 years at credit card paymentprocessor First Data as chief information security officer. Mellinger has also served as a chiefengineer at the General ServicesAdministration.

Dana Karzan was named chiefmarketing officer. She has morethan 20 years ofexperience acrossbanking and fin-techs. Most recently, she led Payment Marketing atFacebook, whereshe developed andlaunched Facebook Pay to morethan 120 countries. Karzan previously held positions at Wells Fargo, Citi, Lloyds Bank and US Bank.
Matthew Burgess, a CPA, Certified Internal Auditor and Certified InformationSystems Auditor,was named chiefinternal auditor.He has 38 yearsof experience including management positions atvarious financialinstitutions.
The $1.3 billion, Oak Ridge,Tenn.-based Y- 12 Federal Credit Union welcomed three newmanagers.
Jim Wood joined Y- 12 as chieflending officer. He brings over 30years of credit union leadership tothe team.
Brooke Willard was hiredas branch manager for Y- 12’sMaryville, Tenn., branch. Willard’sbackground includes managing abranch for seven years.
Alicia Strange was hired as senior manager of community andpublic relations. Strange has over16 years of marketing and publicrelations experience.
